Shedding Light on Struggle and Identity

Athletes gain recognition through performance and accomplishment but what truly lies beneath the surface of greatness? What drives, shapes, and sustains them when the crowd is silent and the high of competition fades? This blog seeks to reveal the people behind achievement and explore what it truly means to be great.

About Me

My name is Savanna Amack. I am a second-year Journalism student and Division 1 track athlete at the University of Northern Colorado. I’ve been involved in sports my whole life, and I’ve struggled to understand who I am beyond being an athlete. College track has shown me that other athletes share my struggles, and I believe those challenges deserve as much attention as triumphs. Join me in exploring the identity and mental health struggles of collegiate athletes through the personal stories of my teammates and me.
